I did one of these on Twitter, so it only makes sense to plug myself here. My name is Peter and I've been writing in the games industry for various outlets since 2016. I've had the honor of attending various conventions including PAX and E3, and I love doing interviews with devs about their games.

Along with other late 90s PC FPS classics but yeah. UT99 in a browser window... just fantastic. Thanks to the r/LGR subreddit for letting me know about it!

In a career first, I got to re-review Yakuza Kiwami 2 nearly a decade later and I’m not as hot on it anymore. While still an interesting story and pivotal part of the series, I wish Sega would re-release the PS2 version now.
Kiwami 2's belated Switch 2 port is a solid conversion that can’t quite fill the gap missing from the absence of the original Yakuza 2.

100% agree. I love the Yakuza games, but RGG Studio has been incredibly tone-deaf about who it will cast and what modifications it makes to past games. They've also been pumping out a lot of samey garbage for a while now.
Hamazaki Has To Goh - where does Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio draw the line on casting, and why is it not at sexual assault? by @ashlikeadragon.bsky.social

"it’s particularly insulting and disgusting for him to be cast in a series that has historically featured sex pests being (rightly) beat up"

I got to review Powerwash Simulator 2 for Nintendo Wire. While it’s still a good time, the difficulty balancing makes the later levels feel too easy.
PowerWash Simulator 2 offers more zen-like cleaning for fans, but doesn't really expand on the original's core concept.

Detention: Three flavors of political dread by @kingsigy.bsky.social

"It’s rich in historical context and a fantastic marriage of horror aesthetic with cultural specificity, as well as presenting a story that highlights the vulnerability and naivety of childhood."

I got to review PvZ Replanted for Nintendo Wire and it’s mostly good. It just sucks that more care wasn’t given to such a legendary game, not to mention the disregard for input from the original devs.
Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted for Switch is a faithful remaster to the original classic, but one that doesn’t come without its share flaws and missteps.

I reviewed Bounty Star for @ign.com. It is the most personal review I've written in a long time (maybe ever) and I'm very proud of it. It would mean a lot to me if you read it.

Full disclosure: I talk about being suicidal for two years in the opening because I had to. This one hit me pretty hard.

My stance is that video games should not cost $100. What should happen is that CEOs should stop getting mega-million dollar bonuses and publishers should stop dangling job security over developers heads’ based on sales of overpriced products. Games should be cheaper now that more people are playing.

To commemorate the 20th anniversary of FEAR, I made a brief retrospective about its development and my experiences with the game over the years. It’s a shame Monolith is no more, because FEAR is still the best FPS ever.

Here's my full review for Tron: Ares in which I wonder if Disney should have really bothered to try making this series a franchise again.

Review: Tron: Ares • Flixist
Tron: Ares isn't a total dud, but it fails to make the case for why Tron should be a franchise, not to mention stars a noted sex pest.

I can personally relate to the basic plot of Tron Ares because it tells the story of a weirdo guy who falls in love with Greta Lee at first sight.

Movie is okay, though. Not particularly good, but the soundtrack is dope.

There's three separate versions of Rocky Horror on the 4K disc, but nothing different about the film. I have no idea why Fox encoded it this way, but whatever. It looks great.
October 7, 2025 at 6:41 PM
Is anyone surprised that the reception to Tron: Ares is mixed? Tron: Legacy is a similar mixed bag of half-ideas and sloppy writing where the audio/visual experience carried it. If it weren't for Daft Punk's soundtrack or the gorgeous aesthetic, no one would remember Tron even had a sequel.

Pretty neat that this will finally be available outside of a roadshow. Too bad Lionsgate couldn’t have released this on 4K, although I bet it will happen next year.

Go woke, sell faster than the remake of one of the most beloved survival horror games ever. That’s how the saying goes, right?
The just-released Silent Hill f is off to an even stronger start, sales wise, than the widely acclaimed Silent Hill 2 Remake released last year. https://bit.ly/4pMXBZE
