#TinyJoys when Odin Dog arrived with me 20 months ago he wouldn’t go through puddles or mud. In the last few days he has galloped through puddles with gay abandon. He is a joy in himself.

I went to #WNOTosca last night. A stunning staging and performance. (The staging was #OperaNorth and very clever.) And yet again I saw orchestra and singers in a perfect synergy. Live performances need live orchestras.

It was an exhausting day yesterday with the electrician doing the EICR and the piano tuner coming the same day. #proofofcat

This is such an important article getting to the heart of the real issue with the Salt Path story. "The way we talk about illness and disability dictates what is possible...There are two options that seem to be available: triumphal recovery or inspirational death" lithub.com/nature-is-no...
Nature is Not Going to Cure You: On Raynor Winn’s Fabricated Memoir
Like many writers, I have been following the unfolding revelations about Raynor Winn and The Salt Path with great interest, and a degree of self-interest. I am a memoirist and nature writer, and I …

It’s a while since I’ve made this error: coffee after lunchtime means my brain is wide awake and running at speed while my body just wants to sleep.

Greenbelt packing is underway (choir tour first, then seeing a friend, then Greenbelt, then seeing other friends!). I seem to have panic bought gas stove cylinders at some point - I have far more than needed!

What a brilliant Test series. If only we had held onto the catches we dropped on Friday… though I like the symmetry of India dropping lots at Headingley and losing and us doing that at the Oval. Thanks to the #TMS team for keeping us all company for the series. Onwards to the Ashes!

🧵Spotted While Roaming in Aotearoa New Zealand:

A tiny human (2?) has noticed that Granddad is frowning. This won't do. With a concerned expression, she motions for him to bend down and gently pushes his eyebrows up. The reward is a huge Grandad belly chuckle and a very big hug. It worked! (1)

RIP Freya Cat. A great companion to the end.

Cat no 1 is currently hiding under the bed in the (empty) foster room and won’t come out though she is purring loudly. I think we might be nearing the end and although this has been coming for a while I am gutted.

Does anyone know anyone who lives near Howard St / Boundary Brook who might be able to take on watering the plants on this alleyway a bit? The creators could use some help. DM me / reply below.

The foster cat is back! (After escaping on Thursday night.) He’s very hungry but pleased to be home. My guys were preparing to chase him off, so it’s possible he’d made a previous unsuccessful attempt. A huge relief.

My heart is full. Our local Scout troop came to the community garden and dug with enthusiasm; we planted and watered, and at the end they asked if they could come back and could they start having their Remembrance parade in the village rather than joining with the next village. 🥰🪏🫜

I bought a #WilloughbyBookClub subscription with my brother’s Christmas present. It’s been an absolute joy. With the very minimal information I gave them, they have found me fantastic books that I’ve loved reading. I’m definitely doing this again!

We spent 24 hours and a lot of energy debating whether or not to move the church fete back by 24 hours because of the weather forecast. We finally decided to stay put. Guess what? The rain is now tracking to the south of us and it should be ok. So much energy lost! For no reason!!!

Such a lovely week on the life front (friend staying, lunch with other friends today) alongside a tough ministry week (multiple deaths) means I’m left pondering the emotional rollercoaster of clergy life and how on earth we balance these things. And also about other professions where this happens.
