You know that weird let down after passing your dissertation defense?

I feel a mild version of that every time I submit an article.

When your IRB is approved go ahead and save a copy of the application and the approval letter in the folder with your project.

Then you’ll know where it is and can access it even if you’ve changed institutions by the time the publication is coming out.

Check your institution’s open access policies.

Some university libraries have agreements with publishers that your journal articles can be published open access without a fee.

Open access articles are more likely to be viewed - especially by people without institutional access.

Just a reminder to check for your name in this list of books that OpenAI trained from. If your name is there, they probably owe you several thousand dollars.

OpenAI cried that if everyone eligible author files, the company will go bankrupt, so I'm alerting every author I have ever spoken to.

A colleague and I realized we both color code the work we do for the university (responding to email, committee work, etc.) using the school's colors.

I use Green for scholarship because promotion is the main way to get a raise in academia.

What's your color coding system?
