One thing you notice in looking at Kenya and the US is that the biggest hit for democracy comes in the compromising of the legislature. An independent legislature can hold back a bad executive but once they capture the legislature it’s a wrap.

It’s funny that some parents whose school districts heavily depend on Title One are pushing for the closure of the Department of Education. They think the vouchers are a better option but they will end up surprising themselves when their kids can’t be accepted in some private schools.
