Welfare spending is currently 1.2% of GDP *lower* than in 2012-13.

Abolition of two-child cap is best viewed as a correction than an increase.
Is welfare spending ''out of control''?

Total welfare spending in Britain in 2025-26 is estimated to be 10.8 per cent of GDP.

That's just 0.8 per cent of GDP higher than in 2007-08, and total welfare spending has actually fallen fallen by 1.2 per cent of GDP since 2012-13⤵️

Reports yesterday that the Government is considering scrapping the two-child limit on benefits in full.

This would be a welcome step - fully repealing the two-child limit is by far the best way to ensure fewer children are growing up in poverty.

My husband and I just celebrated 22 years together, which is longer than both of Nigel Farage's mixed-sex marriages combined.
Nigel Farage:

"Children who have two stable parents have a better chance in life... The most stable relationships, the ones that last the longest, tend to be between men & women... There's an awful lot of kids in the country not getting the kind of start... they deserve."

As it's in the news again - this is the post I wrote a few months ago on why the disability benefits bill has been going up.

Essentially, you can't remove need by removing support - it just pops up as a cost somewhere else.
