A Call to Action: Jamaican civil society groups call for climate justice after devastating Hurricane Melissa
There's no time to lose. The Conference of Parties (COP30, the UN climate conference) in Belém, Brazil is just a few days away, starting on Friday, November 6, 2025 and ending on November 21. As United Nations Secretary-General says, we are very far from protecting vulnerable communities from a catastrophe caused by climate change, such as the unprecedented Hurricane Melissa - the strongest Atlantic hurricane ever to make landfall.

Numerous barriers, from inadequate technical infrastructure to insufficient educational opportunities, have prevented countries in the global majority from reaping the rewards of the AI revolution.
