Biological anthropologist. Demographer. Human behavioral ecologist. I study reproductive outcomes, parental care, contraceptive usage, low fertility, age at first birth, paternity confidence, and other arcane subjects.

An hour after Ivana Nikoline Brønlund, born in Nuuk to Greenlandic parents who has played for the Greenlandic handball team, gave birth to her daughter, Aviaja-Luuna, the local municipality took the infant into foster care. Racism and colonialism continue on.

Had a great time at @fossilconference.bsky.social! It's good to check in occasionally to see what the psychologists are up to. Nice to see some good (and fun!) evolutionary social science being done, and to meet some new folks.

Here I am at the very end of #FOSSIL2025, getting ready to drive home.

Jane Lancaster (1935-2025), a major figure in the development of human behavioral ecology, passed away yesterday. Jane was on my PhD committee and was always supportive of me and my work. She will be missed.

Finally made the long-delayed leap over here from that other place. Any suggestions on who to follow, related to bioanth, family demography, human behavioral ecology, primatology, etc.?
