Finally! 🤩 Our position piece: Against the Uncritical Adoption of 'AI' Technologies in Academia:
doi.org/10.5281/zeno...

We unpick the tech industry’s marketing, hype, & harm; and we argue for safeguarding higher education, critical
thinking, expertise, academic freedom, & scientific integrity.

💯

What distinguishes this from previous ed tech hype cycles is that social buy-in is broad and deep, and it’s hard to see systematic and informed resistance emerging from anywhere but the academy
Over-leveraged kleptocrats are extracting value by exploiting & exacerbating the political instability & corruption.

They are using the allure of technological disruption as cover for what is simply raiding of public goods.

It is perfectly rationale & informed to want nothing to do with them.

I just read the reviews of my (accepted) #NARST25 proposal. The 1st review is very different from the last two. If I were the 1st reviewer, I would reject my proposal. The other 2 gave glowing reviews. Reviewing/reading reviews will always feel strange to me. We need to find better ways to do this.
