I very much hate that conservatives pulled another linguistic fast one on the American political and media apparatus by saying DOGE enough and treating it as if it’s a federal agency when it fundamentally is not. Now they’re court cases asking about its head admin when THERE IS NO ADMINISTRATION

Is it me or does it seem clear they will use the gov’t shutdown to expedite firing federal employees while at the same time make demands from democrats. Which the Dems will give into, and then gov’t opens but republicans don’t allow federal workers to come back or refuse/slow walk their backpay.

BREAKING: NPR obtained a State Dept document revealing the Biden admin planned to allocate only $483,000 in FY 2025 for EV purchases—far less than the $400 million Drop Site revealed was being set aside for Teslas under the Trump admin (until a recent quiet revision to the procurement document).

AGAIN: If they actually cared about the deficit they wouldn’t also be cutting trillions in taxes for the rich.

They think we are all very dumb.
Elon Musk: "If we don't solve the deficit, there won't be money for medical care, there won't be money for social security ... it's gotta be solved or there's no medical care, there's no social security, there's no nothing. It's gotta be solved. It's not optional ... that's why I'm here."

What I’m about to say is very obvious but still makes me 🧐. It is seemingly clear that the vast majority of men do not have/believe it impossible to have women friends. And that is very pathetic.

Something I often think of is if we manage to survive this with the government relatively intact in its current form, we will need to purge the government of those who willingly participated in the vast illegal actions taken by the current admin. And conservatives will call democrats hypocrites…

I want to spell out the basic reason it’s so dangerous for Elon to have control of the U.S. payments system. It may seem like a technical matter, but the dynamics are simple. 1/x
Elon Musk’s Team Now Has Access to Treasury’s Payments System
Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent gave Mr. Musk’s representatives at the so-called Department of Government Efficiency a powerful tool to monitor and potentially limit government spending.

You say: they shutdown USAID.

You mean: they illegally broke in to a secure facility over a weekend, hijacked sensitive data on vulnerable people and US businesses, destroyed property Americans paid for, cut off resources for sick and hungry families, and fired Americans across the country.

Hospital protests have begun for hospitals that are complying with an executive order banning gender affirming care.

The order does NOT have the force of law, but some hospital systems are too scared of trump to defend trans kids in their care.

This one at UVA Hospital.

And I posted this once today, but I'll add it again here, because most people don't seem to realize that Guantanamo has hosted mass detention for immigrants before, with some very grim results. And that history is a key part of how it wound up used for torture and other inhumane ends after 9/11.
Gitmo Started as a Detention Camp for Immigrants
From the Bolshevik Revolution to 9/11, mass detention starts as a temporary measure and becomes an indefinite nightmare.
