This is an appalling level of cruelty for numerous reasons. Right now, I am thinking of the additional, intentional harm his lies are inflicting on people already steeped in shock and grief over the deaths of their loved ones.

Thinking about how often I've navigated new and daunting responsibilities by just pretending I am a person who can do them, which usually turns out to be true (or true enough). I realize this is just "fake it till you make it," but it's amazing how often faking it IS making it.
