Excited to share my first first-author publication, now available open access! Most research on BPD stigma focuses on mental healthcare contexts—but what about physical healthcare? How might stigma manifest and be experienced on that level? Read it here:
onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/...
“You sure she's not making this up?”: A qualitative investigation of stigma toward adults with borderline personality disorder in physical healthcare settings
Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is associated with pervasive stigma that contributes to several consequences, such as inaccessible and inadequate healthcare. Existing literature concerning the ....

Finally teaching the personality disorder sections.. so beyond disappointed with the textbook and company slides.

There's a whole lot of cringe worthy content readily open for student misunderstanding.

Also "BPD is really CPTSD" is in the book/slides. How lovely.

Don't assume something is true about any subject here just because someone *sounds* authoritative or reasonable. I'm finding more and more that if you really analyze some posts, on the left, too, they don't make any sense. It's just someone whose been in their own head too long.

You were incredible, Alice Wong, and it was a blessing to have collaborated with you on projects, to have read your words and to have heard your voice, as full of life and passion and joy and rage as it was.

You made a difference—so much of a difference.

Rest always in peace, and always in power.

I really think people need to be careful about cryptomnesia and/or passing off ideas/thoughts as their own when taken from conversing with people in lived experience spaces. It's problematic and happens. It creates power imbalances, hurts trust in communities, strips away meaning and origins, and

Flight home from ISSPD was the coolest flight ever @craiganthonyrs.bsky.social @michaelle.bsky.social (and not just because the three of us happened to be on it..)

Even if a little delayed.. we flew straight through the aurora borealis. I have always wanted to see them 😍 So close, visible, unreal 🩵

Thrilled to share a new paper in @jamapsychiatry.com on path asymmetry in complex dynamic systems of psychopathology! jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...

With amazing collaborators @tfblanken.bsky.social, Han van der Maas, & Denny Borsboom 🥳
Path Asymmetry in Complex Dynamic Systems of Psychopathology
This article illustrates the assumption of path symmetry in current theories of psychopathology and calls for the development of dynamical systems of mental illness that incorporate asymmetry.

Thinking about how poor disabled and aging people may be impacted this is a multitude of ways–they may not be able to get food, and their care workers may not either (for those who have them), leading to less good support for disabled folks as starving people don't make the best workers.

I don’t post much here, but I’m so thankful for the Yale UPLiFT Lab.. their radical genuineness, opportunity, support, and community have shaped my growth and perseverance. It was an honor to be invited to speak about research at Yale’s recent Psychology Systems event.

I go on long mindfulness walks almost every day. Today, a lady who lives off the trail gave me sunflowers from her garden. She said she see's me stop along the trail to look at her flowers sometimes.

Random act of kindness almost brought me to tears on a hard (but skillful) day.

"We are talking about stigma with BPD for this paper because xyz." *proceeds with citations, examples, quotes"

Reviewer:
"But what about other disorders? Depression is stigmatized too! Why don't you talk about that! Also these examples are probably just misinterpretations"

1) Studying something like BPD, personality disorders, w other focuses on stigma too is hard bc literally no matter what you do, sometimes people get offended, fail to see the relevance of pd work, & then take it out on you, and it's way harder to get your work out there.

I've heard "you're over qualified" so many times over the past 1-2 years that I'm starting to wonder if any of them ever considered how, as a visibly disabled, AFAB genderqueer, Deaf/HoH person etc, I've always had to be overqualified in life just to be given the slightest chance at ANYTHING.

I have the best friends and community ever. I am so beyond overwhelmed with support, connection, and gratitude as I learn to live my life again.
I love everyone who’s chosen to walk with me in this life, in any way, at any time, in their own way. Especially now, as I find my way back.
