Wrap-Up) Let’s wrap this up. Thanks for joining us tonight. Feel free to share final thoughts and share any new/plugs/events that might interest #learnchat

A7) Going forward? Tuesday evenings. ;)

I always came away from these with a better understanding of what we do and how we do it, and a solid appreciation for the fact that we aren't doing it alone.

#LearnChat has stayed true to form. Thanks for bringing it back!
Q7) What are you most excited about going forward after joining us tonight for #learnchat?
December 11, 2024 at 1:51 AM
A6) This is already an excellent start, and super refreshing. I don't think I really appreciated how much I missed this community until now. #LearnChat
Q6: What is one thing you’d like to see carried forward or done differently in the “new era” of #LearnChat / #lrnchat?
December 11, 2024 at 1:43 AM
A5) I believe that the era of "one social media platform to rule them all" is well and truly over. Having a niche use for a space like BlueSky and using it for that specific purpose seems to be a sustainable way to contribute towards a lasting community. #LearnChat
Q5: How do you see platforms like BlueSky contributing to meaningful professional conversations like #LearnChat / #lrnchat?
December 11, 2024 at 1:40 AM
A4) One of the persistent challenges we have in our world is trying to get the non-L&D decisionmaker to understand what we do and why it's valuable to them.

I think that for all of its benefits, AI is actually making this murkier, so strategizing as a community might be useful. #LearnChat
Q4: If #LearnChat / #lrnchat could explore one big question or challenge in learning and development in its first few weeks back, what should it be?

A3) That much like with sr leaders, L&D folks need to be not only experimenting with #AI but teaching those experiments to the org. Great chance for us to be leading and not taking orders to be filled. #LearnChat

And unlike us they don't think of "Learning" with a capital "L". As you said, they think of that as solving a problem. #learnchat
A3) We have a language that we use when we're speaking to other instructional design professionals, but it doesn't tend to resonate very well with those who are outside of these circles.

They mostly just want to know how we can solve their problems. #LearnChat
Q3: What is one lesson or insight you’ve gained recently that you’d love to share with this community? #learnchat

A2) So many ways! We've unlocked the magic of xAPI and are creating cultures of constant instructional improvement, which has been a long-time goal of mine.

...and then there's AI. So much AI. All of the AI. #LearnChat
Q2: How has your approach to learning and development evolved since the last time we connected on #lrnchat / #LearnChat?
December 11, 2024 at 1:16 AM
A1) I have seriously missed this community! It was awesome to get other perspectives on many of the challenges that we share. Things have evolved quite a bit since we did this last, so it feels more important than ever. #LearmChat
Q1: What does being part of the #LearnChat / #lrnchat community mean to you, and what excites you most about its return?

(#lrnchat, our old hashtag may appear tonight, so that those who used to follow it on Twitter can find our new chat #learnchat here on Bluesky)

Evening all, I'm Kel. Instructional Designer for a DOE National Lab. This makes it a requirement for me to mention that my opinions are my own. IYKYK. #LearnChat
Q0) We like to start chat off with a round of introductions. Please let us know a bit about yourself: who you are, where you are from, what kind of work you do, and maybe share something you have learned this week.

Don't forget to add #learnchat to each post/response so it shows up in the feed.

What L&D say: ‘we are using the Kirkpatrick model but showing impact is really hard’

What L&D mean: ‘we are using a model from a pre-computer era and don’t understand data’
