Nah, Trump wouldn’t have stopped there. Of 50ish regicides only 8 were executed and 16 died awaiting trial - the rest escaped to America or were pardoned. Cromwell got dug up and mutilated of course which is a bit Trumpy now I think of it…

A good question to which I don’t have an answer that begs yet another question. Best I can do is think that foreign policy was always the prerogative of the monarch and maybe an independent FSec was an anomaly while it lasted, and now the power’s back with the executive
