This article is a great intro to the important work of community health centers. One comment I'd make is that it could be read as implying that the majority of FQHC funding comes as federal grants, but the average health center's 330 grant covers only 18% of revenue (KFF 2019). 1/2

Had a great visit to the deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum recently for the first time in many years. If you are in/around Boston it is very much worth checking out, and it is free if you are a member of @thetrustees.bsky.social. Also a great combo with Walden Pond.

La millor actuació de la història dels castells.

I deien que no estaven bé.

Entremig un intent de 9 de 9 amb folre, on hi han pogut fer només una de les 3 aletes.

When our son was little he labeled sardanas "monster music," so imagine my disappointment when my wife wouldn't allow me to use them for our Halloween soundtrack tonight. youtu.be/_3eHo-dMqIw?...

Updating teaching materials on nutrition today and realized that the myplate.gov website has (in addition to the blatant Hatch Act violation) apparently removed all the Spanish language content/handouts. Figured nutrition is a way of making America healthy. Not if you don't speak English, I guess.

A new op-ed in @cogwbur.bsky.social, co-authored by our executive director @stephanieedc.bsky.social and @busph.bsky.social professor Paul Shafer, tackles the USDA decision to stop measuring food insecurity in the wake of SNAP cuts.
First, the Trump administration cut SNAP benefits. Now it wants to stop measuring food insecurity
On the heels of $186 billion in cuts to SNAP, the Trump Administrations announced plans to cancel a long-running annual report on food security. But stopping the count doesn’t stop the suffering, writ...

Very excited there is a new #Bandsplain episode after a couple month hiatus, and the fact that it's about Mötley Crüe speaks directly to my teen glam metal heart.

What a great show by @stereolabgroop.bsky.social tonight. My last one was 1993/94 at The Crocodile in Seattle, so it was a long time coming but worth the wait!
Also check out the opener @memorialsmusic.bsky.social. I was a bit late for their set (door v show time mix-up) but liked what I heard.

I uploaded 10(!) letters of recommendation yesterday. Apart from the last minute frenzy of proofreading, correcting, and cross-checking, it was really nice to reflect on how amazing (smart, kind, committed) our med students are and what a privilege it is to work with them. #Match2026 #fmrevolution

In the community where I work (and many others), food insecurity is a huge issue and cuts to SNAP and fear of ICE are making it worse. Seems important to understand the impacts of policy choices, but I guess we just won't talk about it. apnews.com/article/trum...

It was a heavy week, but tonight because a friend had an extra ticket I ended up seeing Supergrass (who I somehow missed in the 90's) with Sports Team in support. I knew a total of one song, but the show was great, and I was thankful for the cathartic and healing power of live music.

This is a huge concern for those of us working in largely immigrant communities. It hurts individuals/families and undermines our ability to adequately provide care, with wider implications for society and public health. There is a public comment period (see next) 1/2 www.wbur.org/news/2025/07...
Mass. health centers, Head Start worry federal change will imperil services to immigrants
Massachusetts community health centers are among the groups worried about a federal policy change that says they can no longer provide services to unauthorized immigrants.
