Thoughts and gibberish. #UX #DesignOps #ProductDesign by day.
Got told I have great ideas and I’m in the wrong industry.

Meanwhile in the industry, witnessing my ideas just often get ghosted.

Never questioning myself more than now about my own career choice.

Version control for components is still a pain in maintaining #Figma #DesignSystem in 2024.

How do you best assist conversion to newer versions while maintaining support to instances using older versions?

If we don't make space for X in a noisy world, X would fade away.

Inner peace, creativity, friendship.

Basically everything we cherish.

I still recall the number of friends I lost contact with when I quit Facebook. Also the sources of visual inspirations and food for thoughts when I quit Instagram and Twitter.

The ephemerality of social media pushes me to start crawling blog posts, RSS and newsletters again.

anybody who thinks “people with disabilities must have the tech they need by now” should spend a good day trying to use their phone without sight. I did this and it actually surprised me how unhelpful it often was. just cause the tech exists doesn’t mean the problems are solved
Because the visually impaired are part of our community too, and no there is no "app for that"
@chantalalive.bsky.social
But why ?
I have a hard time believing that there are no good app for blind people capable of describing 99% of images.

Yes at some point “design thinking” overtook design doing, and that became very problematic for us.

It was trendy to invest in design, for a while. Many companies did design pantomime; a common practice was to hold design thinking workshops that made everyone (non-designer business leaders) feel like design was happening, but that maybe didn't ever turn into actual business outcomes.

I have feelings about this article, mainly that it completely passes by the "enshittification" discourse. If platforms don't need great product UX to be successful, they will cut their design teams/lay off design leadership.

Why is it more complicated to collaborate on design in an #OpenSource manner than coding?

Skiff entered as a privacy-focused alternative to Google Workspace but all of a sudden died just as those services on the Google Graveyard. 🪦💀

Add that with a note-taking app.
My calendar app is trying to become a to-do list app.

And my to-do list app is trying to become a calendar.

Neither of these products realise I'm not going to settle for some half-baked version of either of those tools.

But I really hope one of them fully bakes it.

RSS beats monetisation.
“RSS is dead, he repeats endlessly throughout the book.”

There is something about RSS that really bugs the tech bros.

‘Design what’s right, not what's most consistent. The best utility of the page is a priority. Modify the page to make it work. Dogmatic consistency is not what should drive design decisions.’

What I miss in #Slack is the ability to automatically resurface saved messages. Not as tasks with due date, but just as reminder to rediscover.
