It was trendy to invest in design, for a while. Many companies did design pantomime; a common practice was to hold design thinking workshops that made everyone (non-designer business leaders) feel like design was happening, but that maybe didn't ever turn into actual business outcomes.

Writing codes in a code editor, it tells you what runs and what doesn't. It constantly checks and validates your approach. There are mini checkpoints to get your work to a contribution-ready level and indicate where is half-baked or needs revision.
Designing in a software, none of these exists.

Or is it because design approaches are more expansive, where methods vary from person to person, and where progress can be interpreted all differently?

This applies to bookmarks and read lists on browsers, also to saved posts on any closed media platforms. I would like to be able to revisit all the digital scraps I once saved.
