After a day of teaching designers to code I came home and had to help my daughter with her coding homework.

Sadly hers involved a terrible visual interface with no ability to edit the underlying code.

Today in adulting: taking apart a cooker hood to clean off a decade of grease. Probably should have done this earlier.

Also turns out you should replace the charcoal filters regularly. 🤦‍♂️

Exhausted after a busy couple of days in Leeds, where we held our annual in-person event for people working in NHS England on digital vaccination services.

These events are a lot of work to organise, but worth it for the chance to reflect, hear from external speakers, and catch up with colleagues.

Returning to #weeknotes after a hiatus. A couple of pieces I read this week were super relevant to my current work, so it’s mostly notes on those. (AI-shaped as you can imagine.)

I got my flu vaccine this week. I’d encourage all eligible Londoners to get theirs as soon as possible to stay well and strong this winter and be able to enjoy all that London has to offer.

Book through your GP, the NHS app or online ⬇️

This is great. Platforms (or “solutions” eugh) at the wrong level of abstraction are an anti-pattern.

I still spend a surprising amount of time converting Word docs into HTML by hand.

Basically the same as my first job 20 years ago.
