My husband has been an Eagles fan his whole life. He's now gotten the kids to root for them as well. I went through multiple rounds of adjusting this color to get a teal that passed his approval.

The government is saying that violence rules. That snatching foreign leaders and territories, and shooting US citizens in their cars at point blank range, is justified. That resistance is not only futile, it is dangerous. They can say these things. But they cannot force us to believe them.

A friend in Minneapolis just sent me this video. Looks like thousands have come together for a vigil after an ICE agent shot and killed 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good. This was my neighborhood for several years before coming to Portland.

A “restorative” approach to handling conflict contributes to a generally healthy community. I’m very interested to see research-informed efforts to introduce this in schools in #Pennsylvania.

January 6 is not only a bleak moment for US democracy, it’s also Epiphany for many and, speaking personally, the 47th anniversary of my first date w/hubby. ❤️

This image is at the apartment where, 3 years to the day after our first date, we decided to get married. Handsome 1981 guy, swoon!

I’m not a road trips gal but they’re “it” right now. 🤷‍♀️ Had to leave my Big Softie sweater before blocking & finishing, sigh.

Someone mentioned the Van Gogh shawl and I say “thanks”! Found a couple of squishy yarns in stash for Amtrak knitting! Deets in alt text.

People are going to try and lure you into debates about whether Maduro was a good guy or not and the thing is, it doesn’t matter for the purposes of discussing whether violent kidnappings and extrajudicial murders by the US government are ok. No, they aren’t! End of convo.

Introduce yourself as what almost killed you.

Hi, I’m a wheel bounding down I-95, having freed myself from a car doing 70 which is now spinning to a stop.

“Can’t believe NYC elected a Muslim as mayor.”

In truth—a Black American Christian woman swearing in a Ugandan American Muslim of South Asian ethnicity as his Syrian American wife holds the Qurans he swears in on, all while standing on the steps of a subway station—is the most NYC thing imaginable.

It’s not quite 🧶 🐓 yet, but it’s getting a little too close for comfort! I’ll finish the hem and wash/block before binding off the bottom edges. Sure hope it doesn’t get to the point where I have to plunder the gauge swatch! 😱

Last night we heard a “BANG!” and went outside to see a car on its side in our street. The driver was conscious but couldn’t get out. They got choice #3 after rescuers tore the roof from their car. A relative or friend who arrived later was heard to say “they wouldn’t let me drive them home.”
Happy new year! Please choose wisely, when you choose who will drive you home.

Although it may sometimes seem that things never change, here is 34th Ave in Queens before/after protected #bikenyc lane segment.

We rode thru once with a group ride on a Sunday am.

Today, we say goodbye to this big ol’ tree. We are sad to see it go but it’s not doing well and we don’t want it to fall on something (or someone!).

It’s been very windy lately but the tree team says they’re good with today’s forecast. 🤞 May they be safe!!

I was thinking about what gifts people used to give to readers (besides gift editions of famous poets' work and illustrated histories of wars and such), and while I was thinking about it, somebody brought a book to the counter....
