I have 4 issues to catch up on, but as a Dying Earth fan, this issue of @newedgeswordmag.bsky.social was a must have.

Hereโ€™s a few of my classics, from The Night Land, Zothique, Tales of the Dying Earth and Book of the New Sun

Changed my mind and decided to continue for round 4 of this sword and sorcery magazine. Mostly because of the Dying Earth issue

You can then pin those feeds to the top of your home in whatever order you like. Otherwise it works like X with no ads (yet), slightly less bots and less right wing nutjobs

Understood. The main things to be aware of is that only the discovery tab is really algorithm based. Everything is timelined. However there are dedicated "Feeds" to curate by subject so you can browse say just art or just astronomy etc. Everything is about curation here to filter out the unwanted

No edit button (believe me the community asks everytime bluesky posts its own updates, to no avail so far).

I'm sure you realised, but that person above looks suspiciously like a bot. We get tons of those style posts on here sadly from "marketers" or "book lovers"

Yes, back when Gollancz briefly made decent covers for their books

Climb through and see where it leads. It can't be worse than our current world, surely??

I am cautiously optimistic that it'll at least be fun

Used to love this board game as a kid. Dinosaurs and a lost world is always a winner for me.

Occasionally get tempted to track down an old copy

It was a choice between that or Nova. I think I picked the right one, but I'm thinking after 2 books Delany may not be for me. I'll carry on and see how it goes.
February 12, 2026 at 1:06 PM
I'm hoping it'll get better. It might just be the wrong book - I wanted something a bit more straightforward. There's a lot of weird flashbacks so far, interrupting the flow. The story has a promising direction, it's just.. getting to it, that's the problem

I read Jewels of Aptor (his first) and that was largely rubbish with just the odd flash of what his writing would develop into. I'm not convinced he's a writer for me based on that and a third of Nova
February 12, 2026 at 12:59 PM
Not overly enjoying Nova by Samuel Delany. Some interesting ideas, but otherwise rather dull and Iโ€™m not really clicking with his writing style
