I’m confused. I thought placing tariffs on foreign goods didn’t raise prices on consumers because, according to the Trump Administration, consumers don’t pay the tariffs. Has something changed? www.nytimes.com/2025/11/13/u...

I’m sure Democrats could get a 3 year extension in ACA tax credits and subsidies if they agreed to delay the release of the Epstein Files for a similar period.

Trump and his supporters seem to want a lot of things named after him (eg a DC area airport, the new WH ballroom, an NFL stadium) and his image to appear on our money and even Mt Rushmore.

Don’t we normally reserve such honors for people who have died?

We should all be thankful for Donald Trump for expanding our modern vocabulary to include such old time words like “groceries” and new concepts like “affordability” (which he doesn’t really want to talk about).

Has anyone received their Soros check for participating in the No Kings Rally? I still haven’t received mine and it’s been a couple of weeks.

And since I’m still receiving my mail, don’t give me that “delayed because of the gov’t shutdown BS!

Since Johnson has announced that the House will be in recess again next week is it impossible for someone to file a motion to vacate the chair? Even if it would never work at least it would be something to highlight how terrible Johnson is as the leader.

Trump accepted a $400MM plane as a gift from Qatar and will spend at least that much more to make it the new Air Force 1, without asking anyone.

Trump demolished the East Wing to make room for his Mar a Lago style ballroom, without asking anyone.

In January, 2029 Trump’s not going anywhere.

The placing of additional tariffs on Canada as a result of a commercial it ran truthfully presenting Pres. Reagan’s views on tariffs proves beyond any doubt that Trump is nothing more than a bully. He’s taxing American consumers because a contrary opinion was expressed and his feelings were hurt.

It’s a little hard to be sure, but I think there are only 48 stars on that flag.

If you listen to the entire Reagan address it’s even more clear why using tariffs like the Trump Administration is using them is bad for the country and bad for the world. Ontario went easy on Trump by on;y including a portion of Reagan’s address in its commercial.
Here's the full radio address from Reagan in 1987.

He talks a little about how he needs to impose tariffs on semiconductors from Japan but it's clear he's singling them out as something that should be rarely used.

The Reagan Foundation suggesting they might sue over the ad is hilarious.

“We’re building a ballroom. They’ve wanted a ballroom for 150 years, and I’m giving that honor to this wonderful place,” he (Trump) declared on Monday.

I must admit, I’ve been totally unaware of this claimed 150 years lament for the lack of a ballroom.

Art imitating life. Thanks for the metaphor Mr President (a metaphor is when a word or image is used to represent something else, sir). But we didn’t need it. Every American can see and feel the results of your shitting on the country every day.)

This is what our President thinks of those of us who oppose his policies and show it by peacefully protesting.

I can’t believe we allow someone like this to lead our nation, let alone have control of the nuclear codes.

It seems to me in normal times the Trump Administration would challenge the Maduro regime on the basis that Maduro stole the Venezuelan presidential election. Unfortunately stealing elections is Trump’s schtick, so he can’t go after Maduro on that basis. He has to make up something else like drugs

What he's saying obliquely is, even if we can't enforce the Hatch Act to get people fired from the Administration, Bluesky totally CAN kick people off for violating it ON HERE.

But only if you report it.
Some assorted reminders as we enter the weekend:
1. Posting illegal content is a violation of §3.B of the Bluesky terms of service.
2. Violations of the TOS may be reported through the app. See TOS §6.A
3. The Hatch Act (5 USC §7321 et seq) is a law.

Watching the NLCS. Lots of people in the stands recording the game with their phones rather than just watching the game

Question: You paid hundreds of dollars for your tickets and the games are on TV. Wouldn’t it be better to sit in your expensive seat and enjoy the game while recording in at home?
