Just a few unsolicited thoughts on Thrasher, who served as president during my first few years at FSU: Given his political background, his appointment rubbed a lot of folks the wrong way, and faculty worried that he would simply do the bidding of those in state government. But he used his 1/

I wrote about this a bit in my last book but it really shakes me that a defining feature of this catastrophic era is that we just keep going to work. We work through pandemics, we work through natural disasters, we work through economic calamity, we work through coups, we work, we work, we work.

They’ll never accept it, but everyone who cast a vote for Donald Trump did real, generations-long damage to the United States and the west in exchange for essentially nothing of value.

My thoughts on cuts to science via NIH and IES

It is:

ILLEGAL: the funding has been congressionally mandated

IDIOTIC: the multiplier effects of R&D are big in the moment (local econs) and huge in the long run (innovation)

IMMORAL: knowledge is—hear me out—good; chaos and destruction are bad

consent manufacturing got deployed to harm public opinion re health@ plant-based food
You’re being lied to about “ultra-processed” foods
Coverage of the latest nutrition buzzword is overly broad, arbitrary, and wildly misleading. The problem goes deeper.
