Nobody invited Poland to the high-level talks leading to the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact either. All that's left is to decide which one of the signatories is Hitler, and which is Stalin: in other words, which one tears up the agreement, and which one is genuinely shocked when it's torn up.

Explaining away domestic abuse and the horrific and humiliating practice of "virginity testing" as a part of Armenian tradition has been the single most disgusting slur of Armenianness to come from within Armenian society. This new bill is a huge step forward into the 20th century, zhoghovurt jan!

Feb 14 is "Trndez" in Armenia. Forget valentines - Armenian newlyweds jump over a campfire together! It's an adaptation of old pagan fertility thing, but more importantly, a great reason not to wear synthetic clothing. Don't try this at home, kids!

For a small city, Moncton's music scene punches above its weight, but like a lot of the good things here, it's understated and subtle. To wit, here's local jazz guy Denis Surette with a sweet arrangement of the old Scottish/Irish classic, "Wild Mountain Thyme." www.youtube.com/watch?v=3s-a...

My arrangement of "Wild Mountain Thyme" I did a few years ago. I hope you enjoy it
