My spouse just told me he needed alone time with Olivia and I was confused until I heard Olivia Rodrigo playing in the bathroom where he is currently getting ready for bed

All I am asking for in renting out my basement apartment is someone who is respectful of boundaries and reliable and who would also be trustworthy enough to, in an emergency or even if I’m just out of town or something, give my diabetic cat her insulin shots

Does this person exist in SLC

My spouse had a routine outpatient procedure today. While getting wheeled into the recovery room he saw me and slow blinked at me, the same way we slow blink at our cats to tell them we love them.

He loves me, and maybe sees me as a cat, who’s to say (not him he doesn’t remember).

I go to the family events to find out which cousins are openly queer now and which cousins have left the church and today’s gathering did NOT disappoint

Now’s a good time to say if you’re ever worried about going somewhere because of (insert a billion reasons due to the absolute state of things), I’ll come with you. I’ll go for you. I won’t leave you alone in this fearful place. We still have each other.

My grandma and her twin sister turn 88 this week and the probability of being twins and both living this long has to be incredibly small, no?

The same person who uses racial slurs will say you’re calling them names when you point out that racial slurs are, in fact, racist

I would like to shout out the person in the library restroom who mid phone conversation also started peeing and then left without washing their hands.

My grandma turns 88 this month and my aunt asked the family to send little videos wishing her happy birthday and sharing a memory and I keep messing mine up because I keep crying about how loved I’ve always felt by my grandma and how important that was to me as a kid and I just love her so much

I like to joke that my senior cat was thrifted but that’s not technically true because she was free from the shelter and the shelter gave us so many free supplies we were essentially paid to take her

The best thing social media has taught people about therapy is that you can absolutely read the texts to your therapist

youtube.com/@theclayers?...

My nephew started making little YouTube videos now and as a millennial who remembers getting dial up and was in middle school when MySpace was a thing, I truly don’t understand modern day children

But it would blow his mind if he got like ten subscribers so…

The Secret life of Albert Entwistle is wrecking me

I was only warned of a sad part at the beginning I was *not* warned of the depiction of the transformative power of connection and belonging and community

I am too emotionally frail for this ffs

(The audiobook is v good go listen)

Summer nights on the patio hanging out with my spouse is such a delight

There’s a podcast hosted by the husbands of two sisters from my mission where they talk in spirit voices and shit on people who left the church and mansplain doctrine and every time I see clips of it pop up in my feed I really hope those two sisters are okay bc their husbands seem real weird

Your free therapy advice of the day is to only respond to what’s being directly communicated

Gonna save you a lot of time and a lot of energy and a lot of misunderstanding and hurting your own feelings I promise

Listen. Fascists love to say they’re protecting a group when they actually intend to do them harm.

We’re watching it with children right now. Also Jewish people, chronically ill people, and mothers—to name a few.
And they frame it as "protecting the children" because who can argue with that? 🤔
This is true! Conservatives almost always start their attacks on freedom with children or young adults. Because kids have so few rights, they can normalize the loss of even more rights.

It’s one of the big reasons why paying attention to what is happening to schools is important for all of us.

When my mom was my age she had 4 kids ranging from ages 6-11 and I think about that every day of my childless life when I lay down for my afternoon nap

Female friendships are great because the group chat right now is just pictures of flowers from our* gardens

*none of my flowers made it but I love to see others succeed

Friendly reminder (for myself!) that fascism wants you depleted, hopeless, and numb.

It’s felt weird to be baking bread and tending to my garden this weekend while people are being starved and atrocities never end, and it’s still important to do.

And it’s important to hold space for the dissonance

Visiting family this weekend and they’re all going to a temple open house so naturally we are getting coffee and maybe gonna hit up the dispensary while they’re there

My house is old and the sound proofing between the basement apartment and our space isn’t great and now my favorite little joke with my friend who lives in the apartment is to text them “bless you” when I hear them sneeze

It delights me every time
