You're not "late to the party" when you enjoy an old book for the first time. Books don't have an RSVP deadline. The party started long ago, and guests show up when they're meant to.

A man says "trust me, kid. Wear sunscreen."" The kid replies "why? you're only 35 and your face looks fine." The man leans in with a ghoulish expression and asks "does it?" The man squints his eyes, and when he does so the sides of his face mutate into a raisin-like texture. The kid starts sweating profusely in sheer terror.
