Sexual violence is used throughout to reinforce hierarchies and systems of power, including the power all men claim over all women under patriarchy, as well as within industries, communities, and groups of all kinds

The men abuse each other through hierarchies of seniority and power and these environments are rife with sexual abuse, both men abusing each other sexually and abusing women and girls sexually. Sometimes the men do it to impress each other.

Men aren’t born with a propensity to commit acts of sexual violence. It is socialized behavior, often learned through abuse itself. Take fraternities and hazing as one example. The slightly older students beat the younger ones and the cycle continues year after year. Sports teams, armies, the same.

Also, gender essentialism ignores the reality that many many men are victims of abuse, especially from other men, and many (not all) abusers are perpetuating a cycle of abuse

It also loops back around to a way to defend male abusers by believing men are destined to abuse, which makes them unaccountable. And then the logic flips to how women should behave to avoid abusive men, when that’s victim-blaming. We should instead think about how to prevent abusive behavior

I’ve seen a lot of reactionary viral content in recent years along the lines of “men should be born in prison and prove their way out” and while I get where that’s coming from, I also think gender essentialism and viewing abusiveness as innate is a huge problem + deflection from how prevention works

The President shit himself on live TV. Melania bombed. The Epstein files are sending shockwaves through the Alt Right. Liam and his dad are back home. A Texas district that was DEEP red for 35 years flipped blue. Pretti's killers have been identified.

Small wins, but you can feel the change coming.

You’re never obligated to support your favorite creators financially, especially if you can’t afford to. There are many free ways to still show support towards them and trust me, that support really goes a long way

But I need folks to understand that if they can see themselves in Alex Pretti or Renee Good, and they haven't been able to see themselves in Philando Castille or Breonna Taylor?

If it feels different, now?

I need you to examine that.

It's not an accusation. I'm glad you're here with us now.

Meanwhile Alex Jones is deepthroating like half the people on the Epstein client list (probably both figuratively and literally)

Minneapolis works because people in Minneapolis know how to take care of each other; you can’t live in that kind of weather without it. so those bonds frayed less, or else were easier to pick back up. I don’t know. but it’s happening elsewhere too.

beginning to feel that we are just starting the rebuilding of a sense of “society” that fractured in the pandemic—a society that will by necessity feel and look and act differently since it is kind of being assembled ad hoc from the broken pieces, but which is starting to come together nonetheless

see this is why the einzbern/makiri/tohsaka trio was smart. they knew that they would always summon the good classes and left the rest for easy prey, which someone who's just going "wow cool wish-granting device" would never think about
