Archaeology isn't my day job right now, so I'm always looking for ways to engage with my profession on my own time. Thus why I was excited when I was asked to review #LadySapiens for #Science - out today!

This is, in large part, pandemic revenge.

As far as these oligarchs are concerned, all science does is tell them stuff they cannot do.

They can't keep spewing carbon.

They can't keep businesses open as usual when millions are dying.

They have concluded that research is the enemy of profit.
Absolute BLOODBATH at HHS/NIH/CDC this morning. Generation of scientists, health care officials being wiped out

Twenty-four hours into his time, Sen. Booker just passionately defended public science and universities-- which, at their best, are cornerstones of democracy and a powerful tool for collective liberation (which is why they've been so aggressively attacked).

Thank you, Senator.

The distance between a legal resident who's not a citizen being deported without due process and a citizen being deported without due process is a hell of a lot shorter than many folks seem to believe, and when it does happen to a citizen, just remember it started here and who was quiet in response.

I went to my Congressman's local office today. First off, they were surprised that I was there. They said they had been getting phone calls, but I was the first walk-in. That said, the phones were not ringing off the hook. If the DC phone lines are busy, try calling the local office.

Let's make some calls. If you have R senators, keep calling them to oppose nominations.

If you have D senators, call them and ask them to be as obstructionist as possible. Like circa 2016 Mitch McConnell levels of obstructionist.

In response, Senate GOP released a memo detailing all of the tactics they in the minority could use to delay the effort as much as possible. I'm recirculating that 2009 GOP memo here. Take inspiration from it.
