New research from the IFS showing the closure of youth centres during the 2010s was shortsighted. For every £1 saved, the costs to affected users, crime victims and public spending in the police and the criminal justice system amount to £2.85

So lots of people get annoyed and this is fed back. So another strategy is written, but yes it has no... and so the cycle repeats itself....

There is lots of discussion about the value and importance of preventative policy/spend. Not nearly enough on how to actually budget for it in a recurrent way

When there is a budget it is sometimes handed out to third sector grant givers. It can fund genuinely innovative and impactful pilots. That then get suspended, because there is no recurrent funding to back them up.
