i will not share the video

but if you’re not speaking up about this, you’re hurting yourself

Power just went out at our hotel in Barcelona during a storm. I’m having breakfast in the restaurant of this very international hotel, and when the room went dark, all of the other guests in unison went “wooo.” Humans are pretty much the same wherever you go.

By sheer coincidence I'm speaking at 2 conferences 2 days in a row with a 'puppy playtime' break area

1) I love this trend, especially if it's in conjunction with a local shelter and helps raise funds (both of these have been)

2) It seems to be an open secret that we all need puppy time right now

Happy 750th, #Amsterdam! 🎉

You remind us that place + people = meaning.

As we build our digital “places,” let’s design for trust, dignity, and connection—so systems feel as human as streets and canals.

Gefeliciteerd.

Overheard at a tech conference: "We don't need an ethics committee, we have a compliance team."

Heh. I worked on an enterprise intranet called Atlas when I was at HCA. If you stay long enough in tech the product names cycle back around and you can re-use all of your old jokes.

The opposite of fascism isn’t freedom — it’s care.
Our attention is power.
Our compassion is infrastructure.
The future is what we build together.

the post office is a public service. it doesn’t need to make money. public transit doesn’t need to make money. the library doesn’t need to make money. some things exist for the public good and we desperately need lawmakers to stop thinking about them in terms of capitalism. these are not businesses.
