Impressed that @busboysandpoets.bsky.social — my DC fave — is hosting phone banking with support and encouragement and free coffee to phone bankers.

Folks in DC might want to check it out. Thanks for setting a great example, B&P.

Excited to be speaking at @smartcityexpo.bsky.social in November, but one of the things that fascinates me most about 'smart cities' is just how much can be accomplished with low tech. Like this taxi sign. Light it up when someone needs a ride; simple & effective.

What other examples have you seen?

Congratulate me, I guess, for somehow being (mis)classified somewhere as the owner of a business someone should be selling private aviation to

Very genAI-coded insight

Has anyone else seen this flood of genAI-created gratitude spam show up in your mailbox? I took a quick video scrolling through the many similar messages: they're obviously generated, but what's the catch? Am I supposed to be flattered enough to write back and be ensnared into a scheme of some sort?

This prestigious recognition — alongside the likes of @sethgodin.bsky.social, @kirstinferguson.bsky.social, @hamiltonmann.bsky.social, and other brilliant authors — means the message about human-friendly tech decisions is reaching exactly the right people at exactly the right time.

I was outside the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York courthouse in Brooklyn on January 28, 2017 when Judge Ann M. Donnelly issued the emergency stay against the first one.

Where are we protesting tonight?

Reading #CarelessPeople by #SarahWynnWilliams and having to restrain myself from making a side-by-side reading guide for #WhatMattersNextbook in case anyone chooses to read them at the same time. (You should.) Here is just one of many passages in CP that hit quite a few overlapping themes with WMN:

On Earth Day, a reminder that our most innovative solutions must work in harmony with the natural world. As we develop AI and emerging technologies, let's ensure they amplify our capacity to protect and restore our planet, not accelerate its decline. 🌲 #EarthDay

Amid times of social and technological upheaval, Easter — both through its historical Pagan origins and its religious reinterpretations — offers a reminder of an essential truth.
That truth is this: (1/4)
