It's reintroduction time! I'm a multidisciplinary artist who makes art about memory, place, & craft. In 2022 I moved from Oakland, CA to small village in the Netherlands. To restart/recenter my career, I'm putting myself through a "conceptual apprenticeship" with the greats of Dutch & Flemish art.

Volumes like Woodland Life and Field & Meadow Life in the 1960s Blandford 'in Colour' series were - & are still - unusual among general insect/invertebrate guides in featuring larvae other than butterfly/moth caterpillars, plus galls & leaf-mines

On this, the last year of legal fireworks, the Netherlands does not disappoint.

I will never forgive the Dutch for putting the original Sound Of Silence at #60 and the fucking Disturbed cover at #22 (down 9 spots from 2024).

Meme culture and the loss of cause/effect in discourse is the perfect petri dish for fascism. Memes are signifiers, not stories.

As my spouse put it: without causality, there is no responsibility.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but opposing GenAI is not about opposing technology, it's about opposing capitalists.

GenAI is not a technology: it's a massive automation of theft, masquerading as an industry, run by grifters.

Don't hate computers, hate the capitalists behind the curtain.

I got sober because a friend died. Sometimes it's hard to see it as an accomplishment. An accomplishment would be doing this out of self love & personal growth instead of stubbornness, spite, & old ghosts. But I suppose it's the end result that really counts. Anyway, 12 years since my last drink.

Sad to think this might not even be an accurate list of all we've lost this year. Many of these extinctions aren't officially confirmed for years or decades.

We didn't survive and thrive as a species because we had warriors or hunters - pretty much every omnivore can manage that.

We did so because we developed Grandmothers, and domesticated Dogs.

Community is what defines us as a species, and every "self-reliant" libertarian shitweasel be damned.
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.
