If you want to put back statues and memorials and names of Confederate traitors while tearing down museum exhibitions on slavery because they don't show the greatness of the nation... the nation whose history you're celebrating is whiteness. The kind of nationalist you are is a white nationalist.

So that when Ghislaine Maxwell "escapes," everyone charged with keeping track of her will just shrug?
Ghislaine Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein’s imprisoned associate, has been moved to a lower-security prison, her attorney said.

Maxwell, who was convicted in 2021 on sex-trafficking charges, had been serving her 20-year sentence at a low security prison.

Her attorney did not explain why she was moved from a detention facility in Florida, where she is serving 20 years for sex trafficking.

"They just want a pure aristocracy of inherited wealth."
Yep, that and they believe that everyone who is poor is black. No such thing as poor, white people (who have also benefited from free tuition initiatives at top universities).
Note also that the lawsuit alleges that because race and class are correlated, providing free tuition to lower income students is also racial preference.

They just want a pure aristocracy of inherited wealth
“Johns Hopkins has not merely preserved its discriminatory DEI framework — it has entrenched, expanded and openly celebrated it as a cornerstone of its institutional identity,”

Saddened by the passing of legendary sociologist Herb Gans. Ethnographer extraordinaire and so generous with his time. Quick to pose penetrating questions about my drafts. Thinking through the answers made my work better. He will be deeply missed.

Herbert J. Gans, 97, Dies; Upended Myths on Urban and Suburban Life
A leading sociologist, he explored American society up close — living in a Levittown at one point — to gain insight into issues of race, class, the media and even the Yankees.

So, so relieved to see that Abrego Garcia is alive. Thank you, Senator @ChrisVanHollen, for traveling to El Salvador to check on him. Hope speaking with the Senator, and learning that so many people are rooting for him, was a source of comfort for Garcia.
NEW: Senator Van Hollen has met with Abrego Garcia.

The first weapon I ever held was Mrs. Dalloway's hand.
Improve a first line by substituting Mrs. Dalloway.

It was a queer, sultry summer, the summer they executed Mrs. Dalloway, and I didn't know what I was doing in New York.
Improve a first line by substituting Mrs Dalloway.

Mrs. Dalloway, light of my life, fire of my loins. My sin, my soul. Da-lo-way: the tip of the tongue taking a trip of three steps down the palate to tap, at three, on the teeth.

Roundup = classic case of what sociologists call "statistical discrimination." Judging an individual based on stereotypes associated with the person's group, not the person's actual behavior, i.e. Japanese Americans will be loyal to Japan, or Venezuelans are all gang members.
The specific quote from General John DeWitt, justifying Japanese internment: “The very fact that no sabotage has taken place to date is a disturbing and confirming indication that such action will be taken.”
Just like in WW2 when some argued the lack of subversive activity by Japanese-Americans indicated they were plotting something big.

How is it that Dems are so woefully unprepared to respond to Trump's continual abuse of power? Project 25 website was active months before the Nov election. Why didn't Dems develop a plan of attack back then?
I've noted some of the procedural things Democrats could be doing in Congress, but this point from @edgeofsports.bsky.social's great piece in the Nation deserves emphasis.

This is basic politics, and it's baffling that every Democrat isn't doing it every day.
