As a veteran of legacy media, I'll never pretend that we got things right all the time. Some of the worst stumbles arose from a lack of experience around the table, editorial & lived. But most of us believed in journalism & practised it honestly. And here's the thing: you'll miss us when we're gone

I feel like The News has a new show runner lately and I am enjoying these new characters. The plots were getting depressing and, frankly, weird. But now I’m excited to see where this season goes…

Not a good week to be a sexual predator named Andrew, as both the British prince and the American one get the order to remove themselves from public life.
Mamdani: "I wish Andrew Cuomo only the best in private life but let tonight be the final time I utter his name."

Democrats won everywhere there was voting yesterday, by larger than expected margins. This is not just a “vibes” victory - the more power we can hold in states around the country now, the better we can protect and defend people against their own (federal) government. This matters.

Just grow a fucking spine, people.
Zohran is stone cold man. Putting out an ad in Arabic after all the Islamophobic shit that’s been thrown his way? Pure swag.

Dems don’t need to copy his politics or even necessarily his campaign strategy, they need to learn how to grow a fucking spine.

Honestly hoping Democrats drop the other shoe and start expressing absolute contempt for reporters who want to play makebelieve with the Republicans.
Thank you Congressman Neguse for laying it plain.

This really stings because I'm one of those people she presumably thinks "shouldn't have been able" to come here, given that I came under my husband's EU treaty rights. I don't think there is any way in which the UK would be better off if I had not come here. If my daughter had not been born here.
Sunday Times interview Tory "rising star" Katie Lam

She is clear she wants lots of legal migrants to be told to "go home" so as "to leave a mostly but not entirely culturally coherent group of people"

(The interviewer suggests she is scrapping ILR or stripping people of it)

notice the general mood of the timeline? how everyone is in a good mood and there’s a lot less misery and dooming? how there’s a lot of “we’re going to beat these assholes”?

anyway that’s why these events are important

My ex-Republican Dad just called me to show me the scene from #nokings Greenville, SC. His first ever protest. Trump is toast, I’m telling you.

Just back from the London #nokings protest. Frogs and dinosaurs, Brits and Americans, we all agree. Trump is not our king.

This makes me all kinds of sad. The Post is a great paper, which I've been reading since I was a teenager.

Jeff Bezos killed it to make Trump happy. Never forget that billionaires don't care about destroying the things we love. (See also: Musk, Elon; Twitter takeover)
wow. bezos has destroyed this paper.
Lmao WaPo has fewer than 100K circulation now. It turns out “alienate your liberal subscriber base” is not a good strategy when the Republicans also hate you. www.forbes.com/sites/andyme...

Jordy is chatting with Claire about the implications of an AI bot's ability to do sensory manipulation on humans. It gets all philosophical and stuff.

A 15 year old boy with autism went missing earlier this week

He was selling fruit with his family in Springbranch when he disappeared

They filed a missing person’s report & begged the public to help find him

Turns out he was in a Houston ICE detention facility

They kidnapped a disabled child!

If your industry can't survive without unpaid use of other people's licensed work, your industry is not viable.

If the "AI Industry" values access to these works, let them negotiate with creators in good faith and offer them fair payment for their work.

But don't be surprised if we say no.

Cowards. And bullies.
Good fucking morning to everyone except the ICE agents who shot a Chicago priest in the head with a pepper ball from a rooftop yesterday. Real law enforcement officers don’t have to wear a mask to do their job. You’re cowards.

I'm TERRIBLE at estimating how long my first drafts will be. My 1st book I thought would be 95-100K words. It was 140K. My second I thought would come in at 85-90K. It was 110K. Starting a YA/New Adult novel now that should be a tight 65-70K. Any guesses where it ends up?

I just finished Douglas Adams: The Ends of the Earth - it explores his philosophy, writing and influences using clips of his audio archives interviews with his friends. Particularly enjoyed learning more about his conservation work. Audio book only - highly recommend.
Good morning Blue Sky! Hope you’re all ok? Today I’m currently reading and hugely enjoying them plenty When There Are Wolves Again by EJ Swift. What are you reading at the moment?
