New research reveals that the gut can sense microbial flagellin via TLR5-expressing neuropod cells, triggering PYY release & reducing feeding through a gut–brain neural circuit—independent of microbiota or immune cues.

Excited to share my first senior author paper in Pain! 🎉 We identify Synaptojanin 1 & Endophilin A1 as key endocytic mediators of nociception. Silencing them blocks spinal synaptic transmission and relieves pain in cancer & postoperative models, without affecting normal behavior.

How bad will it be? Catastrophic.

Proposed cuts to #NSF, #NIH, and #NASA will set the US R&D landscape back 25 yrs+, cause economic and job loss now, and undermine innovations to come.

But, this is the WH's *proposed* budget.

Speak up now before it is too late.
