This situation highlights something that happens a lot in fandoms now, the sore winner. Like Peeta got the girl, Aang got Katara, Alina didn't end up with The Darkling. But it doesn't matter because some still liked those ships, some still ship. It's a competition to them, not about what they enjoy.
