As an aside, I was investigating on the original title of 'My Name is Red' which refers to the chapter appearing in exactly the middle of the book, about the colour red (I had some flashbacks there to the chapter about the colour white in 'Moby Dick' which is pretty much the only chapter I... (1/2)

Halfway through this and quite enjoying it. A very interesting read, though certainly not for everyone #currentlyreading #books #Turkey #nobel #orhanpamuk

'Convenience Store Woman' was dark and sharp but now I'm in need of something a bit historical and maybe a bit less bleak so I am going to read Euripides' 'Medea' 🤣🤣🤣 #books #drama #readmorewomen #womenintranslation

So I finally made it to Haddon Hall last weekend and it was a gorgeous sunny day too and now I'm in the mood for some Jane Eyre (1996). Might catch that one tonight! #JaneEyre #CharlotteBronte #Bronte #PeakDistrict #Victorian

August is swiftly approaching and, as in the last few years, I intend to do a couple of "Women in Translation" reads. So far I've figured out two:

Convenience Store Woman - by Sayaka Murata
Ravages - by Violette Leduc (which I'll read in French)

what are your top choices for this summer? 😀

Don't let anyone fool you: A 35-37 working week is perfectly grand and more than enough in this day and age. Anything else is work you're doing for free so that some rich fella can get some more money and then proceed to do horrible things to you and others like you.

Ryanair's boss calling the Spanish Minister for Social Rights and Consumer Affairs a "crazy communist" is totally giving me life today 😅😂 yes, Mike, we're a country of crazy communists! Deal with it!!! hahaha #resistance
No hay insulto ni chantaje que vaya a cambiar el compromiso de este Ministerio: defender los derechos de la ciudadanía española donde y ante quien haga falta.

I was awarded some grant money to invite a Visiting Professor from my alma mater back in Spain and I'm delighted and very excited. We're gonna organise some talks and a workshop about literary #translation with a #gender perspective too so I'm in my own personal 7th Heaven 🤩 Needed to share the joy!

It's very cold out there in Dublin today (-1º) and I'm sick, so before I finish correcting my last batch of exams I'm having a massive cup of tea and watching some silly TV. Can't wait to finish work today to read something slightly more enchanting #books #winter #MyBooks2025 #erinmorgenstern

A single 400-year-old ancient oak produces 234,000 litres of oxygen a year while soaking up carbon dioxide, and can support more than 2,000 species of bird, insect, fungus, and lichen. Nature is amazing - we need more of it, not less. Please repost if you agree 🌳

#Nosferatu was amazing, especially enjoyed the cinematography which was incredibly on point (wasn't expecting any less): gothic, atmospheric and totally reminiscent of #CasparDavidFriedrich's paintings. He's always been one of my favourites (German romanticism), so here are some of his works #Gothic
