Human beings cannot transcend humanity, only set new limits for it.
Why?

The accurate measure of a man, the boy had been taught, lies in what he leaves behind in this world. His legacy. This idea, however, had never appealed to him. It left too much upto the judgement of others, he felt. And a post humous evaluation hardly left any room for corrections.

On a related note, I kinda feel that in the age of social media, where people can actively promote themselves through all forms of media, these pageants shouldn't be a thing anymore. It really seems like an outdated concept. Unless, of course, there are still some benefits that I'm unaware of.
This is the kind of solidarity that makes things happen. Small example that can work to scale.
