I think what’s important to understand about parenting discourse is that, as someone who doesn’t have a child, it’s obviously parents who are selfishly caring about their own needs over others. But if I ever have a kid, it will be childless people doing that.

what's the last Metroidvania you've seen that wasn't:
a. post-apocalyptic
b. "cyclically" apocalyptic ("age of x" vs "age of anti-x" plot pattern, Dark Souls/Rusted Moss for 2 examples)
c. some sort of mass 'undeading'/parallel 'hollowing'
d. "you are the bad guy and that's good"
