I haven't seen conservatives get this upset about a Superbowl halftime show since, I don't know...last year with Kendrick Lamar? Or 2023 with Rihanna? Or the 2022 rap medley? Or maybe Beyonce?

The U.S. anti-trans backlash has not let up. But the good news is that these bills are increasingly unpopular with the public. Polling shows that people think anti-trans Republicans have gone too far and by a large margin (+22, according to a Fox News poll) trust Democrats more on trans issues.

Grading essays from a grad seminar in 2025 now means first having a reaction, "wow, this is really good; they seemed to have really grasped the material at a deep level" followed by a second reaction, "this feels like AI."

New paper by my student, Becky Upton:

Across 60 countries, those countries with higher beliefs that manhood is a precarious social status tened to have more violence against women, attitudes more condoning of violence, and weaker legal protections for violence against women.

This video of Sugriva using Instagram is shocking because it's so similar to how humans use social media--engaging with content that triggers our emotions, like images of our friends and foes.

This is social psychology at its best. Great study.
Change is hard.
I'm excited to share the news that our climate change project won the @spspnews.bsky.social Robert Cialdini Prize for a "paper that uses field methods and demonstrates the relevance of social psychology to outside groups and communities"!

Besides being another example of how Republicans try to blame everything on trans people, this is a reflection of how little Trump understands about trans identity. What does "want to have transgender for everybody" even mean? I want transgender folks to be happy, safe and free from govt intrusion.
Trump: "They want to have transgender for everybody. These people are crazy -- the Democrats. So if it has to shut down, it'll have to shut down. But they're the ones that are shutting down the government."
