This is why we created the Residents First program, so the city can step in & turn problem properties into places that provide quality, affordable housing that anchors neighborhoods. We know Cleveland best, so we need Fannie Mae to step aside.

In Cleveland, we stepped up with “A Home for Every Neighbor” to help unhoused people maintain a stable home - but we need the federal government to do its part, too. Congress cannot let HUD leave people out in the cold while so many struggle to afford the basics. www.usmayors.org/2025/12/10/n...

I'm also frustrated with the city's antiquated permitting process, but change is coming. Tomorrow, we launch Cleveland’s new Permit Portal — a more transparent, user-friendly navigation system that finally brings us into the modern era.

We're announcing a 30-day moratorium on utility disconnections.

The federal shutdown and cuts to SNAP benefits have placed an unfair and unexpected burden on households. No one should have to choose between keeping the lights on and putting food on the table.
