I spoke to Times Radio earlier about my reaction to the Peter Mandelson revelations- the police should be investigating and his title of "Lord" should be removed.

The overriding consideration for the party should be who is best placed to win & represent the people of Gorton & Denton-no stitch ups, no 2nd guessing what might happen down the line. We need our best players on the pitch & the PM needs the best serving in his Government.

I welcome the news that the Government will look at a ban for under 16s on social media. However, as I said yesterday in the fireworks debate, I cannot reconcile the Govts refusal to do anything on decibel levels for fear of being seen as “nanny state” with the moves on mobiles.

If opponents of the BBC were trying to design a way to undermine the licence fee then it might look like this- the question is why are the BBC accelerating their own demise ? www.theguardian.com/media/2026/j...
BBC could soon make programmes for release first on YouTube under deal

Last week I had the opportunity to question Fujitsu about their role in the Post Office scandal and their pledge not to bid for new government contracts in light of their role in it- its become apparent that their promise not to do so isnt as clear cut as it would first appear..

"Very shortly" says @Keir_Starmer on new leasehold laws coming forward- he's going to get asked this at PMQs every week until it happens!

Another worrying report about the way those classed as self employed are treated and why we need proper protections in place- getting a pay cut for doing a job well is no way to treat someone

I welcome news that there will be an independent investigation in to how foreign states are using their money to influence our politics- I hope that this will extend to include their activities on social media where I believe hostile foreign states are using their resources too

It really is time the House of Lords allowed us to get on with delivering our Employment Rights Bill and bring protections to millions of people in work

2026 will be a big year. We in Labour must make and win the argument together that our progressive politics is changing peoples lives for the better. We must stay united, beat the politics of division and hate and overcome the challenges ahead.

After the Lords blocked the Employment Rights Bill again we must now be prepared to sit every day if necessary to get the Bill passed- and if the Lords complain about the extra hours they will have to work, tell them to join a Trade Union!
