I welcome news that there will be an independent investigation in to how foreign states are using their money to influence our politics- I hope that this will extend to include their activities on social media where I believe hostile foreign states are using their resources too

2026 will be a big year. We in Labour must make and win the argument together that our progressive politics is changing peoples lives for the better. We must stay united, beat the politics of division and hate and overcome the challenges ahead.

Lovely to visit Port Sunlight Village Trust this morning to help judge the best decorated gingerbread house- so many fantastic houses to look at! The display will be on all weekend at the museum, 23 King George’s Drive, Port Sunlight.

After the Lords blocked the Employment Rights Bill again we must now be prepared to sit every day if necessary to get the Bill passed- and if the Lords complain about the extra hours they will have to work, tell them to join a Trade Union!

The coverage of the appalling treatment of the Vodafone franchisees this week has exposed the power imbalance that can exist in such relationships- I am pleased to say that the Minister has agreed to meet with me to discuss how we can potentially address that

The House of Lords must not be allowed to block the Employment Rights Bill any longer- lets debate this every day until Christmas to get it over the line!

Had a really enjoyable visit to Royal Mail's Ellesmere Port Delivery Office at what is the busiest time of the year- but thanks for everything you do all year round.
It was also great to see the new electric delivery vehicles, built just down the road at the Stellantis factory.

A sensible compromise has been reached which brings forward vital protections for millions of workers- we just need the Lords to pass the Bill!
