Sappy as it may be: make friends, not followers. People who care about YOU and not just your art will follow you in any trend, any space, any time. You obviously can't be friends with everyone, but having a core group of people to lean on is important in and out of the art world.

LRP thats how I feel when people decide to... not communicate or refund about commissions. Like losing money sucks but having a promise broken sucks so hard ontop of it. I cannot enjoy an artists work after that at all

Commitment to a promise means so much more to your audience (and people in your life in general) than you will ever understand. Even if you do not have the empathy to see how it affects people emotionally, remember that your reputation is a limited resource like any other.
