Back from a screening of #AnotherSummer @tudublin.bsky.social film by refugees about refugees, set after the Taliban takeover in 2021 and the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Really poignant, sad & hopeful. It was organised by #PhibsboroForAll and great to catch up with my old pal Ken McCue too.

How completely gorgeous are these cards!? Xmas-themed made from seed paper, would also do as an obituary 😉 'When you're done with me, soak me in water, tear me up, plant me in compost and let me bask in the sunshine...then watch me grow into beautiful wildflowers and listen to the bees buzz'. 🐝

A new gift edition of James Joyce's The Dead is published by @newislandbooks.bsky.social with an introduction by @nualaoconnor.bsky.social I also read that Joyce set the story on January 6th, Feast of the Epiphany, as a nod to the infamous 🌀Night of the Big Wind🌀 1839 that devastated Ireland.

Talking with a friend and she was saying she doesn't cook [fresh] much because it takes too long. I agree that most cookbook recipes take longer to prep & cook than they let on... so I'm going to post (honestly) our dinners & how long for next 7 days before heading to my niece's new house in Leeds.

Really delighted to see @claudiadalby.bsky.social in Issue 20 | Autumn/Winter 2025/Speculative Fiction, for a short story she wrote on my course @irishwriterscentre.bsky.social. It was a brilliant story in the first flourish onto the page, and evidently got to publication with minor redrafting. Fab!
