If you really want to help someone in crisis, be concrete. Don't just say, "Let me know if you need anything."
Offer specific help you'd want in their shoes:
"Can I come do your dishes?"
"I'm going to the grocery later, can I get you anything?"
"Do you need someone to watch the kids for a bit?"
