Had no idea this relic from my past was still running and kicking ass! It’s an invaluable resource.
An anonymous donor just offered to match up to $1,000 to my fundraiser in support of health benefits for @scarleteen.com's staff and an as-needed health fund for volunteers, which means your $1 is worth $2! Anyone want to join in with ANOTHER match to turn that into $3?

Just saw #Eternity and hoo boy, the waterworks came to play. Miles Teller hasn’t made me cry that hard in a theater since The Spectacular Now. I also laughed way more than I thought I would. It was exactly the movie I needed right now.

The government shutdown has deprived Americans of food stamps, LIHEAP and 25 Head Start programs. A lot of people rely on many of these programs at once. This is the suffering they've endured: www.thenation.com/article/soci...
For Families on the Brink, Losing SNAP Benefits Has Led to Devastating Choices

I have a full time job in a HCOL city - rent eats almost half my monthly income, never mind my student loans. I cannot imagine how people making less than I do manage to support a family in my city. It’s a crisis.
It seems crucial (and long overdue) that our national political discourse has finally shifted from an obsession with "the economy" to what actually matters: whether people can afford the basic things they need to live.

This right here. This is what a lot of these asshats prefer. They don’t actually care about the suffering and dying that will take place, as long as it happens far from view.
I said "slowly," but that's not really true. Without healthcare, it won't be slow at all. Just quieter, and out of sight.

“The Thing” (1982). Somehow is never gotten around to it and it blew me away. The score and editing were on another level.
What is the best movie not from this year that you’ve seen this year? Bonus points if you say why

Don't forget that Zohran Mamdani spent his entire campaign standing proudly beside the trans community. He went to trans rights rallies just to show support. He proudly waved trans rights flags without hesitation. He refused to back down in support of trans rights. That makes me happy.

If Mamdani wins this sets a dangerous precedent for Democrats… They may have to actually do things instead of merely sending texts asking for money.

can't even pull out a favorite part til I sign my separation letter lol, just read the whole thing.

as someone who was on SNAP four times let me tell you it would be *phenomenally hard* to exploit, they put *a lot of effort* into giving you *as little as possible* and are horrendously understaffed

if someone has managed to abuse the system they are Danny Ocean and you should respect the hustle
“some people abuse SNAP” your soul is rotten

if Teen Vogue as we know it dies today, I hope its team know in their hearts that they did more to champion democracy and freedom of speech and to mobilize citizens of all ages toward progressive causes than all the pundits at legacy outlets who sneered at the notion of wanting teens to be informed

Teen Vogue’s team has been putting out some of the hardest hitting journalism of the last few years. This is devastating.
thank you for all the support; the statement from our union is now live here with some more reporting.

now that this is public I can confirm that the majority of today’s layoffs were women of color. there are no longer any Black women working at Teen Vogue.

Frankenstein was everything I needed it to be and more. So heartbreakingly stunning and beautifully violent. The set design, effects, costuming, everything was so perfectly executed. This and Crimson Peak will have a huge place in my heart forever. @realgdt.bsky.social does it again.
