I wrote about projections for the extreme weather fueled by climate change in England, and how London is likely to be one of the worst hit places, which you can read about here:

London most vunerable part of England to extreme weather
London ranks as the city most vulnerable to extreme weather in England, according to a new report from insurance company AXA UK.

I went out to help a couple of times for this by-election, and some of my friends said I was aiding Reform by splitting Labours vote, but by being another (better) alternative, we had the opposite effect, and kept them further from gaining a foothold in the area
🎴Green @paulpowlesland.bsky.social comes second and beats Reform in Thames View (Barking & Dagenham) council by-election.

🔴 LAB: 36% (-3.65)

I fear this is another fumble. If/when they arrive, I want them to succeed (as part of an ecosystem on the left that includes the Greens with whom I will remain) but endlessly teasing a thing with no real way of geting involved, just endless sign-ups for mailing lists, is a waste of energy
It's time for a new kind of political party - one that belongs to you.

For many long years, the left in Britian has been repeating that we need new leadership, if we don't grasp this oppurtunity with both hands we may spend another 5 years in the wilderness. Join the Green Party, Vote Zack Polanski.
⏳Final week to sign up to the Green Party.

🗳️ Vote for Bold Leadership on August 1st.

Few, things are back to normal
The lack of dissent "could never have happened under previous Labour governments of the 60s, 70s, the 90s or noughties." You would have seen a few resignations. And the international development secretary would have strongly considered resigning, he says

This is something I come up against even in London, where the Greens got 18 second places in 2024, reversing this notion alone is a big way for the Greens to unlock electoral gains
Concerns they are a wasted vote is the main reservation
among those who would consider voting Green

Nothing is ever a foregone conclusion in politics, this is like if Rishi Sunak's Conservatives had suddenly bounced back in the polls and (if this plays out) won in 2024

Cutting foreign aid to fund defence could be seen as a counter productive measure in terms of security. However, optically this looks good given the break down of Atlanticism (big given Starmer’s commitment to it in the past)
NEW: Big moment in the Commons. Keir Starmer confirms that UK defence spending will rise to 2.5% of GDP by 2027. Commits to 3% in the next parliament.

That's a much more rapid increase than anyone was expecting. Starmer says it'll be paid for by cuts in foreign aid.

Did a yoga class for the first time, and so far corpse pose is my favorite, could have gotten on board earlier if I'd known pretending to be dead was a part of it
