This is pretty cool, I don't have a congressperson for the foreseeable future. Democracy! theintercept.com/2025/03/21/t...
Texas’s GOP Governor Can Arbitrarily Deny Democrats a Seat in Congress Until Next Year
Texas’s heavily Democratic 18th Congressional District has an empty seat. State law gives Greg Abbott the power to delay the election to fill it.

this scripting.com/2025/03/11/1...

It's a for-profit company, and it's not at all decentralized. That doesn't mean it's bad, it has some pretty cool ideas, but the most recent PR push seems disingenuous.
Bluesky is not billionaire-proof
Dave Winer, OG blogger, podcaster, developed first apps in many categories. Old enough to know better. It's even worse than it appears.

When you start negotiating which people get human rights and legal medical care under the direction of their providers, you are walking in the path to fascism, eugenics, and murder.
I’ve had a few people ask “oh, so is disagreeing with Gavin Newsom on trans athletes a PURITY TEST?”

And yes, protecting trans people from discrimination is a vital purity test.

It is pathetic and disgusting how many people who claim to be Democrats are failing it.

it's weird how much space is taken up by ".bsky.social" when there is only one server/company, and always will be.

@sill.social Feature request: For the notifications in RSS, I would rather the link go to a Sill.social summary of the link than the final destination link. That way I can see all the commentary better.

22 PERCENT
“A study published last year in JAMA Network, a publication of the Journal of the American Medical Association, found that 22% of cancer patients did not receive the care their doctors prescribed because of authorization delays or outright denials.”
Health insurers are increasingly interfering in care, an NBC News investigation has found.

Doctors say the stakes are highest in cancer care, when delays can be the difference between life and death.

PBC = Public Benefit Corporation aka "B-Corp", a type of corporation that has a charter to provide a benefit to the public beyond just making a profit. Unfortunately BlueSky Social has not published their charter AFAIK.
VC = Venture Capital funding.
