New one from me up at @mrbullbull.bsky.social part 2 of my “Useless Idiots” cycle.
Clint preferred showing over telling, the width of his shoulders, the location of his feet, his steady even reps, balanced sets that worked each muscle group. Clint was a specimen of physical human potential. We all had something to learn. @jthomasmurphy.bsky.social mrbullbull.com/newbull/fict...
Watching Pet Semetary Two (idk) and why didn’t anyone tell me that Clancy Brown has a good to decent Boston / Mainer accent up his sleeve?

Th funny thing is in the novels Bond dies in From Russia, With Love. Ian Fleming, of all people, figured it out is what I’m trying to say.

I am going to become the joker.
Dudes look like Frodo and Sam talking about how the beauty of the constitution is that it subtracts social issues from politics.
Going out drinking two blocks down from Harvard Law was a huge mistake on my part.

The 4K of this is gorgeous but really nothing compares to seeing n old horror movie on a well-loved 35mm print. Highly recommend.
Secured tickets for Coppola’s Dracula in 35mm on Halloween. Finally something to look forward to that isn’t oblivion.

Ok but if my apartment complex’s management company is going to send me a birthday email then it better come with 20% off next month’s rent coupon.

Revisited Carpenter’s The Thing last night and Russell’s The Blob tonight. Interesting how both are remakes which bookend the Cold War. The xenophobia of the originals curdles into paranoia, the enemy without now the enemy within. Surely nothing to be learned here. Just more cheap thrills. Oh well.

Just found our Rob Lowe was in an early 00s adaptation of Salem’s Lot but the only way I can watch it is by buying a decrepit DVD off of something called Gruv dot com.

It was interesting on my last read-through of Gravity’s Rainbow how loudly Pynchon was screaming that America had been compromised by if not Nazis but were least soft-sympathizers before they even entered WWII and uh…well.

One Battle After Another is really making me rethink this huh. I’m really going to read this book again just to see if I was wrong.
I think Vineland is my least favorite Pynchon book? Followed by Bleeding Edge. Something about the Reagan Era that presents an Event Horizon over which TP just can’t cross.
