By the way, for those of you not in MN: Homan’s strategy was to withdraw some agents, so it felt like we were in the denouement of the crisis, and then escalate hard against observers. They’re being incredibly aggressive with observers now. National media may not want to check out just yet

Floored by this story. A man wrote a pollite email to a federal prosecutor objecting to the deportation of an Afghan seeking asylum. DHS responded with an administrative warrant to get the man's info from Google, then visited his home to intimidate him.

“You’re gonna see something in Georgia.”
Trump: "These people were brought to our country to vote, & they vote illegally. The Republicans should say, we should take over the voting in at least 15 places. The Republicans ought to nationalize the voting. We have states that I won that show I didn't win. You're gonna see something in Georgia"

This is something, but it doesn’t mean much if the video is not made available to the public.

And - ps - if you really care about accountability, then masks should not be allowed for DHS officers.

Facts matter.

New @cato.org report rebuts conservative claims that immigrants are a drain on government programs:

"Immigrants are less likely to enter the welfare system, less likely to remain on welfare for long periods, and less likely to age into the most expensive entitlement programs."

This needs to taken very seriously and actively pursued. Even if resisted by DOJ and ultimately rejected by SCOTUS, federal officials need to at least have some concern that crossing the line to criminal behavior could be a problem for them.
NEW: When can states prosecute federal agents? While it may not be easy, especially if federal officials impede an investigation, states have more power than people may realize. @aliciabannon.bsky.social breaks down the tools states have to hold federal officials accountable:
When Can States Prosecute Federal Agents?
Federal precedent permits such prosecutions in limited circumstances, but the legal bar remains high.

Really feeling like the only people holding things together right now are

- some brave federal judges (including some Trump appointees)

- a few (too few) D politicians

- protesters/observers (esp. in Minn.)

Sincere thanks to those Americans for opposing the unAmerican batshittery around us
NEW: As he released 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos, Judge Biery warned of vast lawlessness and inhumanity in the Trump administration’s mass deportation efforts. He said courts amounted to “a judicial finger in the dike.”

With a judicial finger in the constitutional dike, It is so ORDERED.”

"In theater" is a military term that refers to a wartime theater of operations. ICE and CBP agents are in Minnesota, which is one of the United States. The enemy in this military operation are citizens of Minnesotans and the United States.
Q: Can you be specific about how many ICE and CBP agents are currently operating in the state?

HOMAN: 3,000. There's been some rotations. They've been in theater a long time. Day after day, can't eat in restaurants, people spin on you, blowing whistles at you. But my main focus now is draw down
