Embracing the robot overlords since 2025. I write about tech and AI so you don’t have to—and yell about food as a hobby. Ex-MSFT, IBM, Linux Foundation, ZDNET. Creator of RiskyEats. Opinions are mine, not my employer.

Wrote a long personal essay about an unexpected side project and what working with modern AI systems actually felt like.

No advice, no hot takes. Just a snapshot from the middle of it.

There are very few true 8-port 10GbE desktop switches under $500. Netgear’s ~$500 option only has 4×10GbE (rest 2.5G). QNAP tops out at 6. I grabbed the Trendnet TEG-S7102: 8×10GbE RJ-45 + 2×SFP+ for under $400.

So this is dumb. The series takes place 900+ years after the TOS timeframe. Klingon culture is going to change, and we don't yet know what this character’s deal is. www.yahoo.com/entertainmen...

LinkedIn is not Facebook.

Comment-thread fights don’t make you bold—they make you a liability.
Every post reflects your employer. Officers/executives: you are the company.

Public meltdowns don’t show leadership; they end careers.

A goodbye to Stewart Cheifet, who hosted Computer Chronicles and Net Cafe, two critical computer news programs through the 80s and 90s. His entire collection was handed to the Internet Archive a couple years back. They are being re-digitized where needed.

Note to large ISPs rolling out gateway “upgrades”:
stop shipping regressions. Breaking existing Wi-Fi, removing legacy 2.4 GHz support, and stripping band controls is incompetence disguised as modernization. Most customers aren’t network engineers and shouldn’t have to clean up your design failures.
AT&T upgraded my gateway today. It broke all my legacy 802.11g devices (yes, I have a few and can’t get rid of them yet). New BGW620-700 gateway cannot 1) run legacy WiFi modes on 2.4 2) turn off 5GHz or 6GHz bands (because I have 6 APs). Now have my work AP broadcasting a legacy SSID. Thanks, guys.
