Last week we published a report showing the super rich are using their wealth to buy huge political influence over the UK through political donations, control of the media, and Lords.
Here's some ways we've been proven right since 🧵
‘Unelected power’ of ultra-rich is reshaping British politics, report claims
Equality Trust study shows how House of Lords appointments, big donations and media ownership affect political decisions

The concerns cited are fictional – when taxes are put on the richest, they stay and pay.

The UK gov't softened tax reforms on the super rich because of the widely reported “exodus” of millionaires fleeing the UK.

Our new investigation shows that "exodus" was a complete fiction. #BogusExodus #TaxTheSuperRich taxjustice.net/press/millio...

We all want to see society get fairer, greener, and give everyone the chance to live a decent life. The richest are making huge amounts of money by getting in the way of those goals.

Wondering where obscene wealth in the UK came from? Read on...
NEW: UK’s billionaire wealth has become hugely extractive over the last 35 years. More and more billionaires and their wealth come from sources that contribute nearly nothing to the economy – like the over 1 in 4 billionaires who now get their wealth from property & inheritance.

We see the harm, fear, and confusion for trans people in the wake of the Supreme Court ruling. The EHRC's guidance has made this worse. Equality means standing firmly for the freedom, safety, and autonomy of all people; it means standing against misleading and divisive narratives.

Thames Water is in court demanding a £3bn bailout loan, paid for by customers. It's the latest rip-off in decades of hiking bills, extracting profits, and dumping sewage. What's the point of a water system – to provide water or to make money for the richest? Nationalise it now!

This massive inequality isn't inevitable. The need for foodbanks has skyrocketed in the the UK – as has the number of billionaires and their wealth.
These things are two sides of the same coin. Trussell do incredible, vital work, but this inequality shouldn't be how our country works.

Reporting from @lucasamin.bsky.social at Democracy for Sale has revealed a decade of bill subsidies paid to South West Water with public money – while the privatised SWW dumped sewage in record quantities and paid £1.5bn to shareholders.
